Gabion Dikes Set Up As Flood Watch Continues

Prince George, B.C. – The reception centre for those ordered out of their Farrell Street area homes reopens at 8:30 this morning. The evacuation orders were issued just before 6 last night as the City declared a state of local emergency in the Farrell Street area, adjacent to Paddlewheel Park.

The Centre is located in the Annex at Prince George City Hall and residents ordered to leave their homes because of the rising levels of the Fraser River, will have to register there if they want to receive any financial assistance.
The City is installing gabion diking in that area to protect municipal infrastructure, and Paddlewheel Park has been closed.
The River Forecast Centre predicted the Fraser could hit 9.207 meters as early as today, and peak at 9.231 meters tomorrow.   A further update on the 5 day river forecast is expected later today.
